That's some nice frame-by-frame animation.

It ended a bit abruptly, but I think that may have added to the humour all the same.

artistunknown responds:

Yeah, I felt like it ending as abruptly as possible was the only way to go. Future ones will have more proper endings. Some of them at least ;)

Watching this on repeat adds a completely new dimension. Is Fred ignoring Wilma? Is he... DEAD!?!

Adding animation to the body could go a long way to making the scene more interesting to watch, however. Even stretching the movie clip in time with her speech could help.

Good luck with the project!

RedSofaAnimation responds:

Thank for the feedback I will make sure to fix a few things. It took me like 5 renders to get it decent

Thank you for including the special features. When I used to watch these, I always enjoyed looking through them - they really set your movies apart from the others.

I'd love to see more of these if you're able to reach your patreon goals, but I'd be happy to revisit the others too.

Bobert-Rob responds:

Well, the current plan is to do every episode in this way. HD re-release, pack in the extras. Some episodes will probably just clock in at 8-ish minutes (like Pop A Cap), and some episodes are going to be ungodly long (Not-The-Final Fantasy XII). May do the longer ones in segments or something, not sure if people would sit through an hour of extras, haha. So that much is guaranteed. As for future installments, yeah, that'll depend on what support looks like at the end of this run. So far so good though.

A great effort from everyone. I enjoyed that. It was good to see a variety of styles and mediums come together, and in this case, nothing felt out of place.

A special mention for my favourite segment - Wesker's profile (Reece Brown).

TerrorByte responds:

My animation would be the only one out of place

I like to think I'm a mature person, but I found this genuinely amusing. I think it was a combination of the fart SFX you used and how it just ended at that.

Some of the text was a bit difficult to read. While I'd say cursive is definitely better than typing, some of it was almost ilegible. Whether you used the pencil tool or the brush tool, I cannot tell (although the 2nd paragraph of text is definitely a brush with its variable thickness), but a slightly thinner line/brush may have gone some way to helping me with this.

The title too may have benefitted from a more cursive style.

For a movie that relies heavily on text, this is the most important aspect. But I was able to get the narrative on repeat viewings.

The animation was fairly good - it's always nice to see frame by frame - but there seems to be some missing - notably, the lady as she walks with the bard. I understand though, that by your own admission, the full version will be better animated, but in all the animation was a good effort.

Focusing on the walk cycle of the bard (with the muse) , the clip doesn't quite loop properly. It's apparent you animated the legs seperate from the upper body, and that's perfectly fine. However, the difference in line thickness between the legs and the upper body make this very noticeable.
The other walk cycle was better - it involved bobbing, the lines were consistent and it looped more fluidly.

I found the face animations to be well done and adequately expressive.

The art style was sufficiently detailed, and I can't really think of much to suggest in that regard. Personally, I can't get the hang of lighting or shadows, but it would have no doubt added immensely to the mood. The scene with the bard and the muse sitting on the bench would have benefitted with some shadows and mood lighting greatly.

I'd definitely be interested in watching the full version (am I correct in this assumption - that the "better animated version" you speak of is a full length animation to the track you used in this piece?), and am keen to see how the story plays out.

RiddhimanDey responds:

Thank you for the Review :) Yes, the full version will be of the full length animation to the soundtrack.
The text part will be better in that one, other things that I will be working on is the background and adding more characters in the story.

So I went ahead and watched it again.

Most of my original review stands, but I'll recap.

The use of real life bitmaps wasn't that jarring and the music was well suited for the mood of the movie.

It did seem to drag on a bit too much though. I did notice that the stage was no longer visible behind the starfield. One thing I did pick up on this time (another minor nitpick) was that the crowd of aliens was poorly composed. They were standing in awkward positions.

One more major issue was that there didn't seem to be a punchline. When I was writing my original review, I jotted down a note in the review box, and as the movie ended, I thought I missed the joke. It could be that your joke is implicit, but personally, I can't see what the joke was supposed to be - the movie just ended.

Like I say, it's a very long movie, with not a lot going on, and the payoff doesn't seem to be worth it.

Otherwise, I thought this was a pretty good.

EddLioni responds:

Yes, the animation is implicit. There is not really a joke (guess people are used to seing funny things in newgrounds), but the movie holds an irony. I don't wan't to give it away but the irony centers on the empty coca-cola can, I let the viewer put a bit of thought in it.

Aniway, thank you very much for your review!

The animation was O.K. The characters seemed to lack legs, and they were blinking in unison.

I'm not quite sure what to think about the theme, but all in all, it was a nice movie. Don't give up.

JustAibi responds:

Thank you. They were. -__- I actually had a difficult time with making the gif's for their eyes. I realized later on that I could actually just create the blinking effect in flash if I turn the eyes into symbols. Hahaha. Silly me. XD
The animation? I'll work on improving it, thank you. :]
The theme is actually all mixed up. It first started as something I thought my boyfriend would like but when he suddenly told me that he wanted to end our relationship, I thought 'Why waste all my hard work? I want to give him something to remember me with, a parting gift, at least."
I was, and still am, actually kind of lost when I saw that the music didn't have time to load when I first played the movie here on Newgrounds. I'm still trying to figure loading screens out so please bear with me. ^^;

Once again, thank you for your review. I'll do my best to improve on my mistakes. <3

I accept your proposal.

No backsies.

PhantomCat responds:

Sure thing honeybuns, but you'd better get me an AMAZING ring.

I think it's wonderful how you and your dad are working together on your animations. You display the seeds of a talented animator, while your father is a particularly talented voice actor. That's not to say I don't think your voice work was poor - quite the opposite. I'm sure your father's moral support was also important in contributing to the final piece as well.

My only criticism is that the end credits flash by too fast and that you use a very generic, almost ugly Times New Roman font.

I saw some good animation and direction in this piece, and am sure you'll continue to improve in the years to come. Incidentally, I see nothing wrong with emulating the style off Eddsworld as if you keep with animating, you'll eventually "grow" out of it anyway (as in develop a unique style).

Keep up the good work!

brynimation responds:

Yeah Thanks for the constructive critcism. I know that my credits are kind of lame. But thanks for taking the time to watch this and really think about the comment you wrote. Thanks for that. You are now officially awesome.
P.S: Yeah, my Dad has got an awesome voice :)
